Terms of Use
updated 2026-08-25
These are the terms for using Oh My Maps!, a free browser-based map editor at ohmymaps.com. They’re meant to be short and honest, matching how simple the tool actually is.
What Oh My Maps! is
Oh My Maps! lets you paint countries and states, build choropleth maps, add labels, patterns and a legend, and export the result as an image (PNG, JPEG, WebP or SVG) or an SVG file. It runs entirely in your browser. There’s no account, no sign-up, no watermark, and no paywall — the whole tool is free to use.
No account, no server-side storage
There is nothing to sign up for. Your map is stored only in your own
browser’s localStorage, per device, per browser. We don’t keep a copy of
it on any server. See the Privacy Policy for the full
detail on how this works, including “Save file” and “Share link”.
Using the maps and exports
You’re free to use anything you create with Oh My Maps! — painted maps, choropleth maps, exported images — for your own purposes, personal or commercial, with no watermark and no attribution requirement to us. The underlying map geometry comes from Natural Earth, which is public domain.
The service as-is
Oh My Maps! is provided free of charge, “as is,” with no guarantee of uptime, accuracy, or fitness for any particular purpose. Because your map lives only in your browser’s local storage, we can’t recover a lost map if your browser’s site data is cleared, if you switch devices, or if something goes wrong on your end — there’s no server-side backup to fall back on. Back up anything that matters to you using “Save file” or a share link.
Changes to the service or these terms
We may change, add to, or discontinue features of Oh My Maps! at any time. If these terms change, we’ll update the “last updated” date at the top of this page.
